Your Date Might Be a Mess but Your Lipstick Won't Be
We don't know about you babes, but we never want our lipstick to smudge - and that goes double on Valentines Day! Whether you're getting romantic with that special someone, or just out with your girls for a Galentines Day extravanga, your lipstick should never be any less than perfect. I mean, your love life might let you down, but your lipstick shouldn't! With that in mind, we've rounded up some of our favourite long-lasting, everything-proof lipsticks that will keep you looking like a bombshell all night long!
Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick in Bella
Available at: Shoppers Beauty Boutique, Sephora
Price: $29 for a full-size tube; also available in travel minis.

Liquid lipsticks are always a good bet if you're looking for a long-lasting lip - and there are so many brands and options to choose from! Stila is a brand that I bought on impulse a few years ago and their Stay All Day liquid lipstick is one of my favourites. It has a matte finish that doesn't leave your lips feeling like they've taken a trip through the Sahara and the pigmentation is intense! They've formulated this lipstick with Vitamin E and avocado oil, so it also doesn't feel cakey unlike a lot of matte liquid lipsticks. As with all mattes, I would definitely recommend prepping your lips with a scrub and a moisture balm like the Clinique pep start we swear by, it'll help with a smooth and long-lasting application. Try to avoid a lip balm like Burts Bees underneath, the beeswax formula prevents it from staying put the way its meant to! For the amount of pigment you're getting, there is little to no transfer, so you can sip and smooch to your heart's content without having to worry about the smudge factor (important on Valentine's Day!). It's not infallible: after around 6 hours or a particularly greasy meal it starts to come off a bit on the seam of your lips, but nothing a quick blot can't fix! The pigmentation is your friend here - it adheres to your lips and leaves a stain that's a pretty close colour match to the full effect. My current shade obsession is Bella: a cool almost neon pink that's a perfect fun lip for Valentine's Day!
Tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Killin It
Available at: Sephora Price: $25
Who Picket It: Rachel
Now, when this lip color boasted that it was transfer proof all day long, I was pretty sure it was to good to be true. But, after wearing this through multiple Christmas dinners and night outs without more than a minor fade I was proven wrong. This lip paint is extremely matte, and while the colour stays a pigmented as when you put it on I do find that it can dry your lips out. If you are already having a hard time with your lips being chapped our cracked, I wouldn’t suggest using this lip paint. But, if you’ve treated your lips before hand or your not concerned about them becoming dry this is 100% worth it. I have the colour Killin It, which is a very dark red. I’ve never had this dark of a colour stay so well before. I usually do have to re-apply once throughout the day/night but over all it lives up to it’s name completely.
Urban Decay Cream Lipstick in Disobedient
Available at: Shoppers Beauty Boutique, Sephora Price: $23
Who Picked It: Megan
If you follow this blog, you already know that this lipstick is my one of my go-tos! (Check out my full review "Obsessed" here: https://bit.ly/2DXjOil ). When we're talking about our favourite long-lasting lips this one is always towards the top of my list: the cream formula is hydrating, and leaves your lips looking perfectly pigmented and smooth - no matter what shade you have selected! There is essentially ZERO transfer with this lipstick, which is basically the holy grail of a cream lipstick since they tend to be the biggest smudge culprits just because of their formula, but (because I'm me) I drank a mug of tea immediately after applying and nada on the rim of the mug! AND then without reapplying it lasted through a pretty greasy meal, and I made it through the whole night without having to reapply or check it in a mirror: my own personal low-maintenance holy grail! There's over 100 shades, and 38 alone in the Cream/Satin finish so you can play to your heart's content without worrying about looking like a smudgy mess or finding out how your date looks in that particular shade! So bombshells, indulge in all your vices this Valentines Day ;)
Pat McGRATH LABS MatteTrance Lipstick in Soft Core
Available at: Sephora Price: $52 Who Picked It: Rachel
Okay, I know you looked at the price and shook your head at me. BUT, this is totally worth it. This lipstick is soft, smooth and barely transfers at all. It comes in amazing packaging, and every time I wear it the colour stays as amazing as when I put it on no matter the trouble I get into. And unlike a decent amount of matte lipsticks you don’t need layer after layer to get the pigmented colour. My favourite colour is Soft Core, it’s a dark pink with a bit of a neutral tint and I’ve found it goes with everything. Babes, you’re going to love it, trust me!
