Stay In The Know:

When Pineapples Squeak

Product: Fuzzy Pineapple Toy Brand: NomNomz Price: $6-$10 Purchased: Some online stores have this including Amazon, but you may need to search around at specialty dog stores

I know most of you haven’t met our utterly unique Daisy dog, again if you’re one of the strangers she’s licked while we walk I do apologize. But, even though you don’t know her there is something that you should know. When it comes to toys there are two main things that seem to be important to her, 1) Is it stuffed? Does it look and feel like a stuffed animal of some sort? 2) Does it squeak?

Since Daisy was a baby puppy she has loved “babies” in other words stuffed animals. She snuggles them, puts them in her bed when she’s all done, brings them to people when she’s excited and most of all she loves to squeak them. I’ve had dogs my whole life and I have never seen a dog enjoy a squeaker more.

For Daisy’s second birthday we wanted to get her a new toy, passing a window of dog store we saw this fuzzy pineapple. On further inspection inside we realized that this adorable pineapple actually had two squeakers. It was perfect!

When we let the puppies open their presents, Daisy instantly fell in love with the pineapple, but to our surprise Elvis seemed to like it as well. This toy comes in one size only, so while it’s perfect for Daisy it’s honestly to big for Elvis to get in his mouth. He definitely struggles when he drags it around.

Now, that both of them were playing with this toy so much we were a little worried about how long it would last, especially the “crown”. The little green leaf on the pineapple is a thin layer of felt. We were a little disappointed about that, but it seems to have held up okay. Since Daisy loves to snuggle with it more than anything our worry level decreased.

The puppies have had this for almost four months and the pineapple itself is intact but the “crown” is starting to pull up a little but it’s still safe. The squeakers are fantastic, they squeak without being annoying. Which is good for us because Daisy squeaks them all the time, for very long periods of time.

The one thing I would say is that the squeakers don’t stay in place very well, so while it’s good for Daisy that she has to work to find the squeakers they can bunch together in one place which is a poor design.

Overall, we would recommend this toy for your pup as long as you have a medium to small dog. We try not to let Elvis chew on the pineapple because he’s such an intense chewer, so if your pup is a gentle to moderate chewer you should be fine. This pineapple will make an adorable addition to your pup’s toys.
