Obsessed: Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
QUICK FACTS:
Brand: Urban Decay
Product: Vice Lipstick
Shade: Disobedient
I love a good lip color, especially one that is comfortable to wear and has some staying power – and man, does Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick deliver! Rachel gifted me with the shade “Disobedient” a couple weeks ago and I was in love with the color from the minute it was in my hands, but once it was on my lips? More like obsessed.
My biggest thing with lip colors is that I’m pretty much the worst about reapplying them: I either forget completely, have forgotten the lip color itself at home, or feel like it’s just a hassle and I can’t be bothered. For a long time now, I’ve been turning to liquid lipsticks that typically have a pretty good stain feature if they can’t be counted on to stay on through pretty much everything! I’m not typically careful while wearing a lip colour either, I do everything I would normally do without one on so staying power is important.
I wore this for the first time to one of my classes, and I was impressed right off the bat with how comfortable this lipstick was on my lips. Like with foundation, I don’t really want to feel like I have a ton of stuff on my lips, so to have something that’s as comfortable as a lip balm and something I honestly forgot I was wearing for a while? Major bonus! It stayed comfortable throughout the eight hours I had it on, and only started feeling like it was giving up a bit after I’d put it through it’s paces and I was ready to take it off anyways.
Staying power-wise: wow. Almost immediately after putting it on I (shockingly I know) had a fairly giant mug of tea. Now normally with lipstick, you end up with the whole lip print situation on the rim of your cup, especially when it’s a cream lipstick like this one is, but there was barely a mark! Same thing when I had a tea from Tim Hortons later, nothing on the cup. Magic, I tell you. It even did a more than respectable job lasting through three slices of pizza – and every girl knows, any kind of even slightly greasy food is usually the death of lip colors. But this one held on! I even tested it later in the week when I went out to dinner: it held up with minimal wear just on the seam of my lips through a taco salad, (soy) chicken wing and a chocolate mousse. I had no idea when I was leaving the restaurant what shape it was in after that, but when I looked in the mirror when I got home, man was I pleasantly surprised! (See, I told you, I’m the worst at this stuff!)
Not only does it get high marks for texture and staying power, I love the color – to the point where I based my entire outfit that night for dinner around wearing it! It’s a gorgeous blush pink with nude tones – probably the closest I can ever to a nude lip color because most of them make me look (even more) dead. But this color just looks like my lip color amplified! Love, love, love. The look was nice too: even though it’s nominally a cream formula, which tend to be a bit glossy compared to a matte, I would say this was comparable to some of my matte lipsticks in look. If you’re looking for a true matte though, this line does feature matte formulas, so I’d take a look at those!
I’m planning to go and buy so many more shades in this line! It’s one of those where I’ve always walked past the display but was almost intimidated by the amount of choice there is on offer – for now, I’m sticking with the cream formula because of all the reasons listed above, but I’m intrigued to try the others!
Happy beautifying babes!
