I have to admit, I have very little patience for multiple-step skincare routines – especially in the morning, I’m so not awake enough to deal with much, so for years I’ve been using cleansing wipes or just a cleanser or exfoliating scrub, depending on what I have on hand. But, I’ve been noticing that lately my skin has been getting more irritated than usual (I have ridiculously sensitive skin too) so when I ran out of my latest package of cleansing wipes, I started doing some research into alternative options and came across a bunch of rave reviews about micellar water.

Have you noticed lately basically every drugstore skincare brand has been putting out their own micellar water? Nivea, Garnier, L’Oreal, Neutrogena… next time you’re in a drugstore take a look at the skincare aisle and you’ll see what I mean! Apparently though, they’re catching on to something that has been a backstage fashion show secret for decades, and over the years they’ve been winning awards: as recently as last year!

According to the research I did, micellar waters began in Paris as a result of the city’s water being too harsh on the skin, so micellar water was created! The idea is that micellar water contains minerals that when combined with a cotton pad, draws out dirt and oil and traps them on the cotton pad. So cool! I was intrigued by the claims that it combined a makeup remover, cleanser and toner, while being considerably less harsh on the skin – so it’s supposed to be perfect for sensitive skin!

I was in Shoppers about a month ago, and noticed that they had 100ml sample size bottle for sale of what is considered THE micellar water: BIODERMA Sensibio H2O; so I figured it was the universe telling me to give it a shot! And man, am I glad I did!

I figured if I was going to try it, I should commit to using it properly, which according to the instructions was to soak a cotton pad and gently wipe the skin twice a day, and follow up with moisturizer once it’s dry. It’s simple enough to follow, so I’ve actually manage to follow it consistently for the entire time! This is a big deal.

I have to say: this product checks all the boxes for me. Easy to use, it doesn’t hurt my skin (usually even the most sensitive skin friendly of products sting), and I have noticed that my skin looks and feels so much better! It’s not a miracle worker: I’ve still had a pimple show up, but on the whole, I’ve had less breakouts, my pores seem smaller, and my skin just feels happier!

This is definitely a product I’m going to invest in – and handily enough, the 500ml bottle is actually on sale at Shoppers right now! I’m off to grab that, and if you’re looking to switch up your daily skincare routine, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

THE BODY SHOP:
VITAMIN E PRODUCT REVIEW
By: Rachel

For as long as I can remember I’ve had sensitive skin (I got it from my mama), I’ve always had to be careful of the products I use on any part of my skin but especially my face.

With true dramatic timing, in walks the Vitamin E line at The Body Shop, my literal savior. I use four products from their Vitamin E line, even though I’m sure that number will grow while they expand their line. I’m current using the Hydrating Toner, the Intense Moisture Cream, the Nourishing Night Cream and the Face Mist.

Each product does exactly what it's supposed to, in other words it keeps all of it's promises.

My favorite would be the Nourishing Night Cream for sure. It's thicker than your average face cream. But, it lays on smooth and sinks in nicely. My skin always feels the best after using this. If you know you're going to be in a dry environment I would suggest using this option as your day cream as well.

All the products have a refreshing and clean smell. I use these products every day and I have never had a poor reaction.

I thought this product had done all it could do but then it pulled out another show stopper. I was recently visiting Jamaica and as per usual got lovely patches of sun burn on my arms and my poor little nose. WELL! Guess what I put on that bitch of a burn? That's right, Vitamin E cream. My burn 100% healed better than ever, and the pealing was at a minimum.

The Face Mist was also an added relief as well.

If you're looking for a product line that will get you through the day no matter the day definitely give this one a try.
